‘Snow will get here eventually’ says Chicopee official

When you look outside, winter activities such as skiing, and tubing don’t necessarily come to mind.

Chicopee Ski and Summer Resort isn’t too concerned about Mother Nature’s decision to have a green Christmas

Executive Director Bill Creighton tells 570 News that this is Canada and winter will arrive.

“Thankfully it’s Canada and we know snow will get here eventually, it’s just a slow start.”

He adds, even though it will most likely melt before Christmas, they’ll be making snow with their new equipment this weekend.

“We would make snow now, just to test the system…normally as soon as we can make snow in the season – as soon as the temperature dips enough – we make snow…usually there is a hole or two in the pipe.”

When it comes to when they will open the ski hills, Creighton says back in the late 70’s they didn’t open until January 14th and it was still a successful year since people were so anxious to get out.
