Special weather statement issued for Waterloo Region

A special weather statement has been issued for most of southwestern Ontario, including here in Waterloo Region.

Environment Canada issued the statement around 6 am on Sunday morning. They say that heavy flurries are likely to last throughout the day and into the evening– and that local snowfall amounts are expected to reach up to 10 cm.

The national weather service is also warning of low visibility on the roads for motorists, as there will likely be bursts of heavy snow.

Snow squall watches and warnings are not anticipated but the situation will be monitored closely.
