‘Living dead’ invade Kitchener for Zombie Walk

You may notice the ‘walking dead’ if you’re passing through Kitchener today as the 7th Annual Kitchener Zombie Walk takes over the downtown core this afternoon.
The march of the undead starts gathering at noon in front of the Kitchener Public Library before taking off at 1 o’clock.
Event organizer Ronald Hoppe told 570 news that the walk is also for a good cause.
“Well the walk is free to anyone who wants to attend, but were asking members of the general public and the individuals taking part in our events to bring a non-perishable food item to the event to donate to our local food banks.”
Hoppe said their goal is to raise 666 lbs of food for the food bank during today’s events; which include a masquerade contest, pumpkin carving contest, and of course, the zombie walk.
“We actually go into independent retailers in the downtown core during our zombie walk, so kids and kids-at-heart can get involved and interact with the community,” said Hoppe.
