1:00 – Woolly Mammoth, once a thing of the past, could be a thing of the future
Earlier this year a Seoul-based company took flesh and blood samples from a woolly mammoth, in the hopes of bringing the animal back into existence. Sooam Biotech took samples from the mammoth found on an island in Siberia, in the hopes to clone her and bring back the species that has been extinct for several thousand years. The company says “we can’t expect to see an actual mammoth roaming the earth for at least a few more years.” They have had previous success in cloning. Back in 2011, they successfully cloned a coyote using eggs from domestic dogs and dog surrogate mothers.
