IceDogs sweep Rangers in home and home

It was the first shootout at the new Meridan Centre, and the home crowd got to celebrate it.
The Niagara Ice Dogs dipped the Kitchener Rangers 5-4 after the one-on-one competition. The ‘Dogs pulled off the sweep of the Rangers in the back-to-back home-and-home after a win on Friday night at the Memorial Auditorium.
cThe Rangers held a 4-2 lead heading into the third, and then a 5-4 lead in the final frame but couldn’t hold off the IceDogs offence.
It’s the second time in three games the Rangers have surrendered a two goal lead in the third period.
Niagara started Brent Moran in goal, after Brandon Hope dominated the Rangers on Friday, but IceDogs Head Coach Marty Williamson went back to Hope at the start of the third and it paid off.
Billy Jenkins ended things in the shootout in the fourth round; no Ranger player scored.
IceDogs defenceman Blake Siebenaler notched a hat-trick.
Brandon Robinson, Adam Mascherin and Connor Bunnaman also scored for the Blueshirts. They have yet to win in 2015, but have earned two points in three games.
The Rangers have allowed four or more goals in nine of their last 10 games, and at least three goals in 13 of their last 14.
Dawson Carty was handed the loss stopping 22 of 27 shots.
The Rangers are back in action on Wednesday night when they travel to London to face the Knights.
