Snow squall watch for Waterloo Region

Environment Canada has downgraded a snow squall warning for Waterloo Region to a snow squall watch.
“Brisk northwesterly winds blowing over the open waters of Lake Huron and Georgian Bay continue to generate heavy flurries and localized snow squalls. The heaviest snow squalls may produce snowfall amounts of 10 to 15 cm per 12 hours along with reduced visibilities. “The snow squalls will weaken this evening as the winds become westerly and weaken.”
Waterloo Regional Police tell us they have responded to 64 crashes since 5am. Six of them involved injuries.
Road conditions are described as icy by callers to star 401.
