Brampton patient tests negative for Ebola

The Ontario Minister of Health and long-term care says a patient being treated for flu-like symptoms at a Brampton hospital has tested negative for Ebola.
Eric Hoskins says the Brampton Civic Hospitals tested the patient who was exhibiting flu-like symptoms after recently travelling to Nigeria – one of the countries hit with an outbreak of Ebola.
Hoskins says Ontarians should know that the province is fully prepared should any cases of the deadly Ebola virus appear in the province.
Meantime the battle against Ebola will be the subject of a telephone conference call tomorrow involving experts on medical ethics.
They’ll debate whether it’s ethical to use experimental treatments for Ebola, an incurable disease that’s fatal about 50 per cent of the time.
Most of the treatment options, including one given last week to two American aid workers, have never been tested on humans.
