Eating fish boosts memory, researchers say

Not sure what to have for dinner? Try fish – but only baked or grilled.

A U-S study finds eating any type of fish prepared that way at least once a week is great for aiding memory. The same couldn’t be said for fried fish.

Interestingly, the brain power boost has little to do with Omega-3 fatty acids.

Researchers at Harvard Medical School say lifestyle factors, such as eating fish, played a greater role than biological factors in creating structural change in the brain. Those who regularly ate any type of fish, grilled or baked, presented with more grey matter volumes in areas of the brain responsible for memory.

The findings are presented in the American Journal of Preventative Medicine.
