Rob Ford returned from rehab today, made statement at Toronto city hall

Toronto Mayor Rob Ford addressed the media this afternoon after his two month stay in rehab in Muskoka. He says his alcohol abuse had a serious impact on his family and work life and says he knew it was time to get professional help.

He says this is a time that will change his life forever and thanked all the dedicated doctors, nurses and councillors for all their help.

After hundreds of hours of intensive therapy, he says he knows that the staff at greenstone “saved his life” and forced him to confront his personal demons and learn how to control his alcohol and drug abuse.

He ended his speech by saying he has begun the process of taking control of his life and is prepared for a long recovery.

He adds he can never change the mistakes he’s made in the past but takes full responsibility and apologizes for his actions.
