Damages reach $600K after Kitchener fire

Kitchener Fire confirms that Tuesday’s fire on Clarke Avenue in Kitchener caused around $600, 000 in damage combined for both homes affected.

The fire originated in 243 Clarke, but the cause is undetermined. Officials suspect it was carelessly discarded smoking materials, such as a cigarette or ashtray, but couldn’t prove that.

The blaze then spread to 237 Clarke due to strong winds.

The home owners at 243 Clarke are suffering the bulk of damages and loss in both the structure and contents inside.

Two cars, as well as two motorcycles were also damaged.

The investigation is complete and the home owners have resumed responsibility of their homes, but at this point they are unable to live inside.
