Food trucks could be rolling into Cambridge

Cambridge residents may soon be able to sample the offerings of food trucks without having to travel elsewhere to do so.
City council has voted in favour of a plan to launch a trial run of the proposal in downtown Galt and Preston.
The trucks could be up in running in those areas as early as later this summer.
Concern abut the impact they would have on restaurants prompted Hespeler to opt out.
Today’s Record reports city staff have now been told to develop a food truck by-law.
Among the proposed restrictions are a 30-metre setback from any dining establishment or food stand, a 100-metre setback from all schools, and they would not be allowed to operate in any residential area or on any city road, regional road or highway.
As well, the proposed licensing fee would be $264.
A final vote is expected on July 14th.
