R-C-M-P shooting

A wild confrontation in the northern Alberta town of St. Paul has left one man dead and three Mounties with non-life-threatening injuries.

Last night around the supper hour, a man driving a pick-up truck crashed into a police vehicle, and then started shooting at the officers. The officers returned fire, killing the man.

One Mountie was flown to Edmonton, where she’s listed in serious but stable condition with leg injuries, while the other two officers were treated in St. Paul and released.

R-C-M-P Chief Superintendent Randy McInnis described the incident as like “a horrific movie scene.”

Police are trying to determine if the incident is connected to the death of a man that happened just before the chaos started.
