11:00am- Michael Harris, MPP for Kitchener-Conestoga, Re: Harris is demanding fairness for firefighters who volunteer in local township departments, saying a legal fix needed to guarantee full benefits for double-hatters suffering from cancer. He says the government must take immediate action to address a long-standing gap in Ontario’s laws that could leave full-time firefighters suffering from cancer with a major shortfall in benefits just because they volunteer their services in another community.

11:30am- Ken Seiling, Chair of the Region of Waterloo, Re: Seiling has released a statement, in response to the “Stop LRT” group. They stated that “the proposed LRT does not confirm to, and is contrary to Section 24 of the Planning Act, Ontario which prohibits the undertaking of a public work that doesn’t conform to an official plan in effect.” However, Seiling says an amendment made to Section 26 in 2007 meets all the requirements of the law and that the group is trying to stall or slow down the project by suggesting they can’t proceed. He says “quite clearly we’ve reviewed this with our lawyers, quite clearly we can and we are going to proceed.”
