Crucial battle at the Aud tonight

As far as points go, it doesn’t get much more crucial than the two points up for grabs tonight.
The eighth place Plymouth Whalers visit the ninth place Kitchener Rangers at the Aud for a final meeting this season. As it stands right now, the Whalers remain five points ahead of the Rangers for the last playoff spot in the Western Conference.
If history is any indication, tonight’s game will be fast paced, hard hitting and with many shots. Goaltending will also be key. In the previous three meetings the Rangers have out shot the Whalers 114-98, have out scored the Whalers 8-7, but have one win and two losses. There’s been an average of 24 minutes of penalties handed out over the three contests, which means we can expect a good pace to the game.
A win would pull the Rangers within three points of the Whalers. Both teams have nine games left on the season including tonight’s game. The Rangers though, have an arguably tougher stretch towards the finish line, with games left against London, Erie and two against Guelph. The Whalers will also see Erie twice before the season ends.
Tonight’s game is live on 570 News beginning at 7 p.m.
