Chlamydia, most common infectious disease in Waterloo Region

In Waterloo Region, chlamydia is the most infectious disease.

More common then the flu, the second most reported disease.

The report was presented to the Region’s Community Services Committee on Tuesday.

Between 2006 and 2011 there were 6, 414 reported cases of chlamydia reported in the region.

That accounts for half of all reported infectious diseases and four times as many as the flu.

70 per cent of those cases were among people aged 15 to 24.
