Province to announce cycling plan today

Transportation Minister Glen Murray is to make an announcement about cycling in Ontario this afternoon in Toronto.

A draft cycling strategy envisioning a network of bike lanes criss-crossing the province was released for public feedback last November.

The plan included a proposal for existing cycling routes to be chained into a system allowing cyclists to pedal across the province without stopping.

A similar cycling network in Quebec generates an estimated 100-million dollars annually.
