PM Squashing Motion From Woodworth?

Stephen Harper wants to shut down a motion by a local Member of Parliament.
A report Wednesday morning suggesting the Prime Minister’s Office is working to defeat a motion by Kitchener-Centre MP Stephen Woodworth, that could theoretically, reopen the abortion debate.
Woodworth has been calling for a parliamentary committee to review the question of when human life legally begins, arguing that the current law is more than 400 years old and outdated.
However, the Globe and Mail has learned, the PMO is pressuring members of the Conservative caucus to vote against the motion from the backbench Tory.
The Globe reports the move appears to be aimed at ensuring the party is distanced from any talk of it being in support of reopening the abortion debate. During last year’s federal election campaign, Harper repeatedly said a Conservative government would not bring forward legislation to restrict access to abortion and that any such legislation would be defeated
A free vote on the issue could come as early as June 13th.
