Band represented by local music label wins a Juno

The 2012 Juno’s provided a surprise for a local music label.
Profound Lore Records based in New Hamburg was shocked to learn one of their bands won the inaugural Juno in the “Metal – Hard Music Album of the Year” category.
KEN mode’s “Venerable” album beat out favourites like Anvil and Cauldren.
Profound Lore owner Chris Bruni tells 570 news that he submitted the nomination for the Winnipeg band, after they had a busy 2011.
“Venerable came out March of 2011 so it’s been a bit of an uphill climb to kid of bring KEN mode’s name back into the consciousness of the underground heavy music scene.
He adds, “…this Juno win is almost like a culmination of this year of hard work, dedication and sacrifice so to speak…”
Bruni says he was in Los Angeles when he heard about the good news.
While he’s well aware of the fact that his label isn’t for everyone, Bruni hopes KEN mode’s success will help bring more recognition for heavy music in Canada.
In fact, all things considered – many people up until last night had probably never heard of Profound Lore Records. That however will likely be changing now.
Bruni says nominating KEN mode’s album was an easy choice.
“The label is based out of Canada…we always have this whole kind of bring more awareness to the music we do within Canada itself and with KEN mode getting a lot of recognition and press for ‘Venerable’ it was the right opportunity to do so…”
Bruni adds he was shocked when he found out about the win, and says he’s looking forward to working with KEN mode again soon.
