Waterloo Fire

The Fire Marshal has been called in to investigate a fire at a student residence in Waterloo.

Waterloo Fire Rescue says the blaze broke out around 8:30 last night on Lester Street.

A man was taken to hospital with burn injuries to approximately twenty percent of his body. He was transferred from Grand River Hospital to the Hamilton General Burn Unit.

Five residents were displaced by the fire and the Red Cross is providing help.

Fire officials say they’re working to determine the cause, but early reports said the blaze was caused by an oil fire.
