While the landscape of Waterloo Region looks more like it would in very early spring, for those looking to hit the slopes, don’t worry.
It’s winter at Chicopee Ski.
Snow making and grooming crews are always very busy making snow at the local ski hill.
Manager of business development, Lori McCrea says when it gets cool enough overnight, they’ll take a couple million gallons of water and turn it into snow, “We’ve been working really hard at it, we have an amazing snow making and grooming team, we’re often complimented on our ability to make snow when there is none. So we’ve created winter out here at Chicopee and a lot of people who’ve come out can’t believe the conditions, it’s actually great.” “We are very busy, especially in the last 2 or 3 weeks. We’ve been making snow since December. We have 13 of 15 runs open currently.”
But, as we’ve all experienced, it’ll be wintry one day, then a balmy 8 degrees the next, and McCrea says when that happens, they’ll lose 25-30 percent of their snow, so they’ve been kept very busy this season.
But again, McCrea stresses, they are very open for business.
