Fire on Bridgeport

Everyone made it out safe and sound in an apartment building fire at Bridgeport and Regina in Waterloo.
A fire at 18 Bridgeport Road sometime around 10:30 this morning has left the 5-unit apartment building with at least $150,000 dollars in damage.
That estimate is expected to rise.
Public Education Officer with Waterloo Fire, John Percy tells 570 News, the investigation is still early.
Percy says this serves as a reminder to the entire community to make sure you have working smoke alarms and to review your fire escape plans.
Once the investigators determine the extent of the fire damage, that will tell how long and if residents of the building are going to be displaced.
Percy says it’s fair to say the unit the fire started is not livable.
