Expect to see some new signs along Homer Watson Boulevard coming up to the roundabout at Block Line Road.
Regional Council has approved immediately changing the speed limit 400 metres North and South of the roundabout on Homer Watson from 70 km/h to 50 km/h.
Chair Ken Seiling told 570 news, the signs that say “Yeild for Pedestrians” will be immidately changed to “Stop for Pedestrians”, “council has also asked staff to report on some other items that could be addressed or requests have been made to see if they are feasable relative to safety of the roundabout.”
Staff will be looking into putting in over sized signs if it’s legally possible to do so, as well as thinking about additional education signs, as reminders of how to use the roundabout.
Councillor Jim Wideman told 570 News what some of the info-signs could read, “things like ‘never pass in a roundabout’, ‘always signal your intention’, ‘always yeild to the person to your left’,”
Staff is expected to report back to the Planning and Works committee, on November 8th.
The 30 km/h advisory for inside the roundabout remains. The reduction to 50 km/h is for the approach.
