Students heading back to class this week will start the stretch under bright skies and comfortable warmth, but conditions will shift quickly as humidity builds and showers move in mid‑week.
The latest forecast, issued early Tuesday morning, outlines a dynamic pattern from now through Friday, with everything from sun to thunderstorms possible across Waterloo Region.
Cloudy skies will clear early Tuesday, giving way to full sunshine and a high of 25°C, with a humidex of 30. The UV index sits at 7 (high), meaning students walking to school or spending recess outdoors will need sun protection.
Skies remain mainly clear through the evening, though clouds increase late tonight, with a mild overnight low of 19°C.
Mid-week storms a possibility
Wednesday marks the most unsettled day of the week. Waterloo Region will wake up to cloudy skies, with showers beginning in the morning and a risk of thunderstorms in the afternoon.
Temperatures climb to 25°C, but the humidex reaches 33, making it feel significantly hotter for students heading home after school.
The evening stays damp, with a 60 per cent chance of showers and a low of 13°C.
Thursday brings a noticeable cooldown. Expect a mix of sun and cloud with a 40 per cent chance of showers, and a high of 22°C — far more comfortable than Wednesday’s muggy conditions.
Overnight, cloudy periods continue with a 30 per cent chance of showers, dipping to 8°C.
Students and families can look forward to a beautiful end to the school week. Friday is sunny, calm and seasonal with a high of 23°C.
