Former Kitchener Frame workers’ benefits in jeopardy

Post-retirement health benefits of over 12-hundred former Kitchener Frame workers may be in jeopardy.
This, after the unexpected bankruptcy filing by ThyssenKrupp Budd Canada Inc. on Monday.
Former employees learned of the news at a meeting at Bingemans on Wednesday.
“This would leave over one thousand of our most vulnerable citizens in the lurch with no ongoing health benefits, including drug benefits,” said Canadian Auto Workers President Ken Lewenza in a news release.
CAW reps are trying to find a solution and is talking to both the company and the bankruptcy trustee.
The Kitchener Frame plant shut its doors in April 2009.
