SUMMER TRAVEL

Summer vacation plans are already well underway, but with the price of gasoline these days, some are skipping the expensive trips and making plans close to home.

Tracey Desjardins, General Manager of Waterloo Region Tourism says surrounding areas can provide unique getaways for so-called ‘stay-cationers’ who can’t or won’t travel this season.
She says there are the usual tourist locations, such as St. Jacobs, but there is also theatre, music and other entertainment.

Desjardins says this is due to an increasing population of young people coming to this area for jobs.
She says they bring more cultural diversity and increase the demand for entertainment.
