Proposed gondola at Burnaby Mountain upsets locals

BURNABY (NEWS 1130) – It’s bad planning. That’s what people living in a community on Burnaby mountain say about a proposal for a TransLink gondola line
Several meetings are in the works with people who live right where a 70 million dollar gondola might run.

Glen Porter lives in the Pine Ridge housing co-op and he wonders why the rush?
“It looks like an absence of planning within a regional context for future regional transportation needs.”
He says they like their way of life
“Obviously we’re concerned about our privacy, concerned about our property values.”

TransLink is studying the feasibility of a tram-line from Production Way-University SkyTrain station to SFU saying the move would free up buses, and could take up to three thousand people up the mountain in just one hour.
