From Raffi to Romeo Dallaire, it’s a pretty wide-ranging list of recipients for honourary degrees at Wilfrid Laurier this year.
Children’s singer, Raffi Cavoukian, and senator General Roméo Dallaire, who lead the UN peace keeping mission in Rwanda, are among nine people getting various degrees during the Spring Convocation this June.
Also receiving an honourary degree will be Linda Hasenfratz, CEO of Linamar Corporation of Guelph, which is Canada’s second-largest manufacturer of precision-machined components for the automotive industry.
The other recipients are:
Dr. Neil Arya, founder and Director of the Kitchener/Waterloo Refugee Health Clinic.
Arthur J. Carty, former National Science Advisor to the Government of Canada.
Louise Arbour, one of the world’s foremost advocates for human rights, and former chief prosecutor for the International Criminal Tribunals for Yugoslavia and Rwanda.
Craig and Marc Kielburger, co-founders of the children’s rights advocacy group Free the Children.
Former justice of the Supreme Court of Canada, Louise Arbour.
The degrees will be handed out during the various Convocation ceremonies slated for June 6-10 at the Waterloo campus, and at the Brantford campus, June 21-22.
