Family fears for son’s safety

It’s been ten days since a Cambridge man left his home to buy a pack of cigarettes and never returned.
The family of 28-year old Sitthideth Insixiengmay — Sid or Lu to his friends — say that’s totally out of character for their son and brother.
Now, they’ve begun to fear the worst. Like yesterday, when reports surfaced that a body had been found in Cambridge. Police quickly ruled out foul play and determined it was not Sid but his family is left full of worry and full of questions.
“My mind is going 100 miles per minute,” says Sid’s brother, Nick, in an interview with 570 News. “I can’t even sleep. Even if I do get a little bit of sleep, I wake up thinking ‘what if this, what if that’ and ‘I should go look here, I should go look there.’ “
Sid left his home in the Wellington and Bond Street area of Cambridge around 5:15 AM on Saturday, January 15th. He is described as a 5’6″, 130lb, Asian male, with short spiked black hair, wearing a Tommy Hilfiger down-filled jacket which is red/green/gold in colour in three horizontal stripes.
His family remains hopeful for information.
“He was hanging out with some new people he met at work,” Nick says. “Sometimes he would go out with them on the weekend so we’re trying to get a hold of them, to question them. But some of them haven’t been responding to our calls or voicemails or text messages.”
Nick admits the family is beginning to fear the worst — that their brother met with foul play.
“My parents are in a bad state right now. They’re worried, helpless, kind of unsure what to think at the moment,” Nick explains. “It’s been over a week and there’s been no contact.”
Investigators are asking the public to call Waterloo Regional Police at 519-653-7700 ext. 2298 if they have information on Sid’s whereabouts.
