Another cold one

Southern Ontario is in the grips of an Arctic deep freeze.

The temperature, dropping off overnight to minus 20 or colder, has prompted many communities to issue extreme cold weather alerts, including Toronto, London and Niagara, but not Waterloo Region.

570 News weather specialist John Wilson says this will likely go down as the coldest stretch this winter, and although he says we have not broken any records yet one could fall this morning.

The old record for this day, -22.2, was set in 1976.

He blames the jet stream, which is to the south of us and trapping cold, Arctic air here.

The complete forecast is coming up.
