Premier McGuinty may not serve a full third term if re-elected

A broadcast report says Ontario Premier Dalton McGuinty is hinting that he may not serve a full third term if his Liberal party wins re-election in October.

In an interview with CTV News, McGuinty hedged about his future when asked if he would serve out four years.

McGuinty responded that he was “not going to speculate as to how long,” but said he was committed to seeing through the policies the Liberals have put in place.

McGuinty, 55, was first elected to represent Ottawa South in 1990 and became party leader in 1996.

He led the Liberals to a majority government in 2003 and then held on to power in 2007.

Heading into the Oct. 6 provincial election, the opposition parties are already attacking the Liberals over the HST, which they say has made life more unaffordable for voters.
