The Christmas tree debate

It’s nearly that holly, jolly time of year. But, have you and your family decided what kind of Christmas tree you’ll be decorating this year?
Deciding to go with a real Christmas tree is only the tip of the ice berg.
Perry Grobe’s from Grobe’s Nursery and Garden Centre, says you then have to decide what type of tree, how long its up for and what type of tip is bet for your family.
“Spruce has a tip that is prickly. Firs do not. They have blunted rounded tips so when a person touches it, a fir tree will be soft to the touch, even though both have very stiff branches that are very easy to decorate.”
Don’t worry about being too busy this time of year either. Grobe says folks who purchase a tree, can have it stored free of charge, so it’s taken care of when Christmas comes around.
Grobe says before making your purchase, remember fir trees can last 4-6 weeks, twice as long as spruce or balsam.
