Russell Williams is expected to sentenced today for his terrible crimes.
Williams was convicted of raping, torturing and then murdering 27-year old Jessica Lloyd, and 37-year old Corporal Marie-France Comeau.
He was also convicted of dozens of other charges, including sexual assaults.
Later today a judge in Belleville is expected to sentence Williams to life in prison with no possibility of parole for 25 years.
Top military brass at nearby C-F-B Trenton, where Williams was commander, say they’ll make a statement about his case once the legal proceedings are concluded.
The case of the senior officer turned sex killer has rocked the Armed Forces to its core, and the military is now hoping to strip Williams of his rank.
Some of the people who were closest to Williams’ victims have had a chance to tell the colonel just what they think of him.
Andy Lloyd’s sister Jessica was raped, tortured and finally murdered by Williams.
During his impact statement yesterday, Lloyd told Williams he was “the Devil” and “pure evil.”
He said his late father — who spent 25 years in the navy — would have been “mortified” to learn that his daughter’s killer was a military commander.
The whole family side of courtroom applauded after Lloyd left witness stand.
And in another twist in the already twisted story, Williams has written letters to his victims, their families and his wife.
To one woman he sexually assaulted, Williams apologized, but then added that he hoped the discussion they had helped her turn her life around.
He also wrote to the families of both of his murder victims, apologizing for taking the young women from them.
In a handwritten note to Jessica Lloyd’s mother, Williams said Jessica was happy because she believed she was going home and would not be killed.
And in a letter to his wife, he tells her he loves her and know she’ll take care of “sweet Rosie” — their cat.
