E-mail hoax

Waterloo Regional Police are warning about an e-mail hoax that has been sent to several municipal election candidates.

The e-mail uses threatening words and makes demands for money.

The Technological Crimes Unit is now investigating.

Police are considering this hoax to one that has existed since 2007.

The sender is believed to be overseas and the recipients are randomly selected.

Police encourage anyone receiving an e-mail sent to “Undisclosed Recipients” with the subject line “Someone Want to Kill You” is urged to delete it.
