St. Mary’s students sent home

St. Mary’s High School students were sent home early this afternoon due to a police investigation. Police are keeping the school closed for the rest of the day and evening.

Students were evacuated around 12:30 this afternoon. The Waterloo Region Catholic District School Board assures all parents that students are safe. Buses were called to the school early and free rides will be offered to to students tonight and back to school tomorrow morning.

The board says the school will re-open Friday morning.

It says students should attend their Period 3A class to begin the day on Friday. Students who normally have lunch during Period 3A should report to the gym to begin the day.

Students who left backpacks in the cafeteria or other common areas of the school can claim them at the main office upon arrival.
