Local woman dies in Cancun

The investigation continues into the tragic death of a Kitchener woman in Mexico.
19-year-old Giannina Di Roberto died Thursday evening when she fell 7 floors to her death from a hotel balcony in Cancun.
She was vacationing there with her boyfriend, 21-year-old Shane Stickel, who is also from Kitchener.
Authorities say Stickel was detained for 48 hours but is not a suspect.
This morning’s Globe and Mail quotes a police spokesperson as saying authorities are leaning toward ruling it “a self-inflicted accident.”
Di Roberto and Stickel both attended Conestoga College, where she studied business and he was studying engineering.
