Waterloo Region, ON – Waterloo Regional Police continue to investigate a fatal motor vehicle collision involving a cyclist.
On Wednesday September 1, 2010 at approximately 2:33pm, emergency services responded to the area of Westmount Road and University Avenue in the city of Waterloo.
An adult cyclist was riding eastbound in the designated bicycle lane on University Avenue approaching Seagram Drive when he was struck by an eastbound Ford Focus driven by a 24 year old Kitchener male.
The cyclist received life threatening injuries as a result of the collision and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police have identified the deceased male as Tiberiu Alexandru David, 43 years, of Kitchener.
The cyclist was not wearing a helmet at the time of the collision.
Police continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the collision and are appealing for witnesses. Anyone with information is asked to contact Traffic Services at 519-650-8500 ext. 8857.
