Obeying water rules

This dry summer doesn’t seem to be tempting too many home owners to break the region’s watering rules.

Waterloo Region’s Manager of Water Efficiency, Steve Gombos says that since May, they’ve issued about the same number of warnings as they did last year, which is 188.

However, the region has laid more charges – six in total so far.

But Gombos says for the most part, people are compliant.

According to the University of Waterloo Weather Station, in August, we only received about a third of the precipitation we normally get.

To keep you lawn looking less brown on the weeks when there’s no rain, Gombos suggests letting your grass grow to about three inches.
