Two draws start World Cup

Local soccer fans say the next best thing to being in South Africa for the World Cup is watching it with friends.
And that’s what they did at the Williamsburg Arms in Kitchener this afternoon, some of them cheering for France, Germany, Greece and England.
Patrons tell 570 News it’s the atmosphere and knowing the whole world is watching that makes them want to tune in to the World Cup.
They predicted a low scoring game between France and Uruguay this afternoon and they were right. The match ended with a scoreless draw.
South Africa and Mexico played to a 1-all draw in the early match.
The pub’s owner, Dave Edwards says he is cheering for England because he has roots there but he wishes he could root for Canada.
The last time our country competed in the World Cup was in Mexico in 1986.
