Possible strike by outside workers

Talks continue to try and avert a strike by Waterloo Region’s outside workers

About 200 full-time workers are represented by Canadian Union of Public Employees Local 1656.

They would be in a legal strike position as of next Wednesday.

The workers take care of jobs such as waste management at area landfills, airport operations, and rural road maintenance.

The Region’s Chief Administrative Officer, Mike Murray tells 570 News more talks are scheduled for later this week and the early part of next week.
