Miracle rescues in Haiti

It’s been more than a week since a powerful 7.0 magnitude earthquake struck Haiti and there are still miracle rescues being reported.
A 3-week old baby was found alive after eight days alone in the rubble and a 5-year-old boy was found by relatives and pulled from the rubble of a home yesterday.
The Canadian government says it will fast-track cases of Canadians wanting to adopt children from the earthquake-ravaged country.
However, Immigration Minister Jason Kenney says the move applies only to about 100 adoption cases that were already under way before the quake struck.
Kenney says regular processing fees will be waived and Ottawa will cover health-care costs until the children are covered under provincial health-care plans.
200-thousand people were killed in the quake according to Haitian officials, including at least 13 Canadians. And it is believed that 2-million people are now homeless.
Ottawa says there are still 479 Canadians missing in that country.
The bodies of two RCMP officers –Superintendent Doug Coates and Sergeant Mark Gallagher — will be returned to Canada Friday, arriving at CFB Trenton.
Meantime, the airport in the Haitian coastal town of Jacmel is being turned into a new point of entry for relief.
Canada is starting to ferry soldiers through the airport there because the airport in the capital of Port-au-Prince is so congested.
