Kitchener wants amalgamation question on ballot

Kitchener city councillors have voted 6-1 in favour of putting the amalgamation question on the ballot in time for the fall election.
The vote took place at Monday’s Finance and Corporate Services Committee.
Residents may be asked whether they want Kitchener and Waterloo to enter into talks about a possible merger.
Kitchener Mayor Carl Zehr tells 570 News it’s important they get a mandate from the public to deal with this matter on a dialogue basis.
Waterloo City Council will also be dealing with the issue tonight.
