Officer was a hero

Ottawa Police Constable Eric Czapnik was remembered today.

The officer was stabbed to death outside an Ottawa hospital on December 29th.

Ontario Premier Dalton McGuinty says the officer loved his job and cared deeply for his family.

McGuinty says Constable Czapnik was a hero because of what he chose to do in life everyday.

Thousands of police officers from across Canada attended Czapnik’s funeral on Thursday afternoon.

Waterloo Regional Police Chief Matt Torigian and other senior staff, along with some 25 local officers made the trip to Ottawa.

Kevin Gregson, a suspended Mountie, has been charged in the death and is in custody.
