Hockey player injured in Woodstock

A linesman is in hospital after his neck was cut by a skate blade during a Junior C hockey game Tuesday night in Woodstock.

The player was cut in the third period in a game between the Woodstock Renegades and New Hamburg Firebirds. Two players fell to the ice during a scrum after the Renegades scored the tying goal, and one of their skates came up and cut the linesman. Witnesses say the unidentified man was gushing blood as he skated off the ice, but collapsed before he could reach the benches.  He was rushed to hospital and there’s no word yet on his condition.

The Ontario Hockey Association will later rule on how the game should end.
