New bridge in Waterloo Park could be fixed by next week

By CityNews Kitchener Staff

A new pedestrian bridge in Waterloo Park could be back open in the next week or so.

It was closed in mid-July after some community members and staff noticed a slight bounce in the bridge.

City of Waterloo Project Manager, John Griffin tells KitchenerToday, if weather cooperates they hope to have the bridge deck replaced by the end of next week.

There was never any structural issue with the bridge, which is under warranty for the next two years.

Meantime, the Central Promenade Trail is now open.

The grand opening is set for Thursday, September 6 at 2 p.m.
