Highway 401 reopened following crash involving wine-filled tanker truck, impaired charges laid (update)

A crash near Guelph caused some commuter headaches Friday morning.
It happened around 10 p.m. Thursday on Highway 401, just east of Highway 6 south, involving three vehicles.
OPP Sergeant Kerry Schmidt said an SUV was apparently blocking a live lane, when it was struck by an approaching pick up truck.
That crash cut off a tanker truck filled with wine, and the truck ended up flipping over, hit the centre median and sent chunks of concrete and debris across all lanes of traffic.
Luckily, there were only minor injuries sustained, but the driver of the SUV, a 25-year-old man from Stratford, has been charged with impaired driving and refusing to give a breath sample.
The westbound 401 re-opened shortly before 6:30 a.m., and eastbound lanes ultimately reopened around 9:30 a.m.
