By CityNews Kitchener Staff

Cambridge is one of 25 locations across the country that will be getting a Zellers store.

Hudson's Bay, which now owns the brand, made the announcement on Wednesday.

The local store is slated to open sometime this spring at Cambridge Centre. For now, it will be the only Zellers location in Waterloo Region.

The new stores, will be between 8,000 and 10,000 square feet, and be located within existing Hudson's Bay stores.

The company also plans to launch an ecommerce site, making Zellers available to almost every community in Canada.

“We know how special Zellers is in the hearts and minds of people in Canada,” Adam Powell, Zellers' chief business officer, said in an earlier interview with The Canadian Press. “Zellers is a brand deeply rooted in the Canadian experience.”

The old Zellers store in Cambridge Centre became a Target store, which has since been divided into smaller stores.

Other southern Ontario locations where a Zellers will be going in include Burlington Mall in Burlington, Erin Mills in Mississauga and White Oaks Mall in London.
