Cambridge man charged after stealing from vehicles overnight

Waterloo regional police have charged a Cambridge man after he was caught stealing from parked cars along a street in Preston.
On Saturday morning, around 2:45 a.m., WRPS responded to reports that a suspicious person had been checking vehicle door handles and entering vehicles on Masterson Crescent. When officers arrived, they found the man inside a parked vehicle and arrested him without incident.
Upon investigating, police determined the suspect had gotten into two unlocked vehicles and stolen property out of each. The goods stolen were returned to their respective owners.
As a result, the 32-year-old man from Cambridge has been charged with two counts of theft from a motor vehicle.
The accused was also wanted on an outstanding WRPS warrant, and faces additional charges including:
- Possession of property obtained by crime
- Unauthorized use of credit card data
- Failure to comply with probation
As part of the ongoing Lock It or Lose It campaign, police are reminding residents to:
- Lock vehicle doors, even when parked in driveways.
- Remove valuables from vehicles or keep them out of sight.
- Never leave wallets, purses, keys, identification, credit cards, or electronics unattended inside vehicles.Report suspicious activity immediately.
