Former Kitchener councillor and MPP passes away

A former local political leader has died after losing a battle with cancer.

Gary Leadston passed away Monday at age 72 at his home in eastern Ontario.

Leadston served as both a Kitchener city councillor and a regional councillor for over a decade and later was Conservative MPP for the riding of Kitchener-Wilmot from 1995 to 1999.

Funeral services are this afternoon at Bethel United Church in Rideau Ferry.
