Waterloo Region hospitals receive $25M from province to support operations

Local hospitals are receiving a multi-million dollar boost from the province to support operations.
The Ontario government is investing more than $25-million for the Waterloo Regional Health Network (WRHN) and Cambridge Memorial Hospital.
Cambridge Memorial is set to receive just over $7.4 million, while WRHN is getting more than $17.9 million.
The government says the money is meant to support operational improvements and reduce hospital wait times.
“Our government is making historic investments to protect Ontario’s health-care system, ensuring that more people in Waterloo Region can connect to the care they need, where and when they need it,” said Sylvia Jones, Deputy Premier and Minister of Health, in a release.
The funding is part of the $1.1 billion earmarked for the hospital sector in the province’s 2026 budget.
