Man arrested after brandishing firearm at Waterloo drive-thru

Waterloo regional police have arrested a male suspect following a series of weapons-related incidents in Waterloo.

Around 2:30 p.m. on May 2, local authorities responded to reports of a male brandishing a weapon at a drive-thru located on Erb Street West.

A later investigation stated that in the event, the suspect had approached the driver of a vehicle while holding a firearm, demanding the driver leave the vehicle.

The suspect fled the area and was later located by officers and taken into custody. During the arrest, the firearm was recovered and was later deemed to be a replica weapon.

The investigation has resulted in the 36-year-old male suspect being charged with:

– Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose
– Pointing of a firearm
– Robbery with a firearm
– Attempted theft of a motor vehicle
– Carrying of a concealed weapon
– Using firearm in the commission of an offence
– Possession of weapon contrary to probation order

No physical injuries were reported due to the incident, and anybody with more details is asked to contact Waterloo Regional Police or Crime Stoppers.
